Fundraising Tasting Event with Fionnán O’Connor, Whiskey Expert, Author - November 28th, 6:00pm
Snug is proud to host Fionnán O’Connor while he finishes research in the U.S. for his new book, Creatur.
Fionnán is a Dublin-based independent whiskey writer.
His 2015 book, A Glass Apart, is widely seen as the definitive guide to Irish pot still whiskey. He’s worked as a consultant and lecturer for distilleries, chaired the Irish Whiskey Society’s cask selection committee, trained bar staff, and represented Irish whiskey to the EU. In 2018 he received a PhD grant to study lost historical mash bills and their role in modern Irish distilling, and he still writes for industry books and magazines.
On this trip he’s finishing two chapters: Irish whiskey in New York City, and American oak and cooperages in Kentucky. At the event he’ll explain the purpose of his trip and talk about the new book. We expect pours from Boann and Two Stacks, including possible samples from experimental distillations linked to his doctoral work — the same work that supported proposed changes to the definition of Irish Single Pot Still Whiskey (the proposal has passed the public comment stage and is expected to move forward).
Storied Company will be hosting a 2pm event at their location on 11/28. If you can’t make ours at 6pm please get on their email list for tickets!
